Jamaica 2022

I traveled to Jamaica at the end of the pandemic. The island was just starting to reopening to tourist. Being stuck in the house was driving me crazy and, I couldn’t wait to be set free. So off to Jamaica I went. This unique country has stunning views and a unique cuisine. I got this really good deal from TripAdvisor. It was 4 different actives, in 1 day (Dunn’s River Falls, ZipLining, ATV’s, & Horseback Riding). First up was Dunn’s River Falls. For someone going to the Falls for the first time there are a few things you need to know. Wear your bathing suits under your cloths. We didn’t get a chance to change and got our clothing wet but, luckily we were wearing our water shoes. I got mine from amazon and I absolutely love them. They have a grip on the soles like hiking boots and, it came in handy on the slippery rocks. We started at the bottom of the falls and made our way up. While most people used the stairs to get to the middle of the falls were they took pictures, we got a nice workout. Next up for us was the Zipline which is on the property. Ziplining was exhilarating and I do it every chance I get. Then we were off for some Horseback Riding and, that’s when things got interesting. But before we move on there was one thing that left me a little uneasy. The guides at the park were overly aggressive to receive tips. I’ve always been a tipper but to follow us to the bus to make sure that you get a tip, is a bit to0 much for me, especially after I tipped you after our activity. I have been Horseback ridding numerous times in my life, but this time is the one I will remember the best. When I book this excursion I knew that the horses would be going into the water, so I assumed that we would be walking along the shore line. No more than knee deep in the water for the horses. No, they were swimming, in the middle of the ocean, with me on their back holding on for dear life, swinging from left to right. I thought it would be a nice ride along the shore line for the first half of our ride and then a relaxing ride on land in the Jamaican countryside somewhere between Montego Bay and Ocho Rios. It would be relaxing but, not the first half. When we arrived at the location I immediately hopped on the horse and off we went. We slowly moved into the water and I soon realized that there was no more land under by horses feet. That when it dawned on me that it was swimming. At that point I was holding on for dear life. There were no stirrups to help me stay in place. After about 15 to 20 minutes we started heading back. Halfway back to shore the horse directly in front of me lifted up its tail and then takes a dump. He just let it go and it was floating right towards me. Now I’m really freaking out because, if it touches my skin, it is over, I know myself. I never wanted to get back to shore more in my life. I move my legs up to water level and began to frantically swinging my legs around to get that shit way from me. I succeeded but, it sucked for the 15 people behind me. All is fair in love and war. It did not touch me and I, happily got back on dry land, lol and, we proceeded to the land portion. I’m still a little traumatized to this day but, it was funny. Our last activity was ATVing. As always that was fun. With all that we did we were dead tried by the end of the day. A must for anyone going to Jamaica is you have to try the KFC. It taste so much better that what we have in the US. The day before we left we partied on a catamaran. Good music, good food, and excellent drinks. I would be amiss if I don’t add one more thing. The taxis system in Jamaica is the main transportation on the island. Your driver will take you anywhere you want to go. They are extremely loyal. I have friends and family that use the same taxis driver every time they go back to Jamaica. A smile always comes to by face anytime I think of Jamaica. The sea breeze, the taste of jerk or a beef Pattie, not to forget the reggie music. Now I know why people keep going back year after year. Hopeful I’ll see you there one day. On to the next adventure.

The Traveler

I’m a local girl from NYC. The buses and the subways were my modes of transportation. I never really left this concrete jungle that I call home. I was 23 when I got on a plane for the first time. Now I travel around the world and you can do it to.
